Health
Following the discovery of a link between the fatal neurodegenerative disease ALS and military service, Capitol Partners was retained to help identify sources of funding for a nonprofit biotechnology company specializing in ALS research. Capitol Partners designed a multifaceted approach that included building research alliances and educating key members of Congress on the connection between military service and ALS. These efforts were successful in creating a sustained federal appropriations program for the biotechnological company, securing over $6 million to research ALS therapies. Recently, Capitol Partners has been able to increase the stream of federal funding, through the insertion of committee report language.

Education
Capitol Partners was retained in order to garner federal funding for the acquisition of educational equipment, technological infrastructure, and program development for a small private college specializing in biotechnological research. With the advice of Capitol Partners, the college was able to position itself for federal funding via a marketing campaign which emphasized the college’s significance in the area’s biotechnology community. In conjunction with this, Capitol Partners was able to forge a relationship between the college and its congressional delegation which has led to a sustained federal appropriation program, securing roughly $3 million in federal funds.

Technology
Capitol Partners was retained to help explore avenues for securing federal funding for an advanced technology which allows people to control the movement of prosthetic limbs through neural impulses. Capitol Partners was instrumental in providing federal affairs advice and illustrating the benefits of the technology to members of Congress. By crafting a public affairs message that articulated the advantages of the technology in relation to wounded veteran and amputees, Capitol Partners has been able to secure roughly $4 million in federal funding for the continued research and application of this groundbreaking technology.

Energy
Capitol Partners was retained by a leading nuclear physics and defense contractor which has developed a number of technologies for the US military. Capital Partners educated key members of Congress as to the potential benefits of the company’s technological developments and how they related to larger US public policy goals such as reducing reliance on foreign oil. Overall, Capitol Partners helped to secure over $18 million in federal funding for the development of alternative fuel sources including hydrogen powered fuel cells, and sustainable waste biodiesel, and algae based biofuels.

Infrastructure
Following a rapid growth in population, Capital Partners was retained in order to garner sources of federal funding for the expansion of the existing infrastructure for a major metropolitan suburb. By providing strategic federal affairs advice, and developing effective appropriation proposals, Capitol Partners has been able to help secure $2.15 million to address such pressing needs as expanding roadways, mass transportation improvements, and downtown development.

Transportation
In response to increasing traffic and security measures following September 11, 2001, Capitol Partners was retained in order to assist in securing sources of funding for a major border crossing between the United States and Canada. Through effectively highlighting the decrease in commercial use of the crossing due to the increase in traffic and security measures, and by crafting compelling appropriations proposals and presentations to the congressional delegation, Capitol partners was able to build the requisite congressional support to secure $25 million in federal funding.
